Packaging requirements when sending a parcel to Canada

When sending a parcel with us, please take some time to ensure that it is correctly packaged, this will reduce any chance of damage or delay, caused by insufficiently packed items. Please wrap any fragile items in a few layers of bubble wrap before inserting into the outer box. Please use new boxes, rather than previously used ones, as they offer a higher level of protection and use double walled boxes for larger or heavier items. You can fill any voids within the box with additional packaging material, or foam packaging peanuts. Please shake the box to check for any movement and add additional packing material if needed.

Once you are happy with the packaging, seal the box with 2-3 layers of strong parcel tape and attach the parcel label to the outside of the box, together with a commercial invoice (if applicable). It is also worth enclosing a further copy of the parcel label inside the box, should the original label become detached or damaged.

If you are insuring your items, please take a few minutes to read the insurance requirements that relate to packaging.

Should you have any questions relating to shipping to Canada, we can be contacted by phone during working hours, live chat or email.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How long does DHL take to deliver to Canada from UK?
A. Our DHL express service is 2-3 working days from the collection date.

Q. What value do I declare on the Customs declaration for deliveries to Canada?
A. The value declared must be a realistic figure. If you are sending used items, it is worth researching the recent sold prices on marketplaces such as eBay, as you do not want to over declare the value, as this will lead to higher rates of import duty being payable by the recipient. If you have sold the item being sent, it is a good idea to enclose a copy of the proof of sale.

A. We can insure items being sent against loss or damage, up to a value of £20,000.00 (subject to terms and conditions).

Q. Which is the best carrier for sending documents to Canada?
A. Our preferred courier for documents is DHL, although UPS offer a very fast 1-3 working day transit time to Canada.
