You are probably thinking that sending a parcel or gift to Spain is difficult since Brexit. Whilst Brexit has made the process of sending goods to Spain a little more complicated, it is certainly not difficult.
The only real difference is that a Commercial Invoice is required to be attached to the outside of the goods that you are sending to Spain. The good news is that we automatically produce this Commercial Invoice for you during the booking procedure, which will be subsequently emailed to you upon completion of booking your delivery to Spain.
You should be aware that the recipient in Spain may have to pay import duties, which is usually local VAT and a handling charge from the courier provider. These fees are out of our control and we are unable to assist in this matter.
Owing to the sunnier climates of Spain, the laid-back culture along with the great cuisine, you can understand why hundreds of thousands of British Expats have made Spain their home, which is one of the reasons why we ship a great deal of parcels to Spain.
Parcel delivery to Madrid is our number one delivery destination, but this has nothing to do with British Expats living there, it's purely down to commercial requirements, however, we send parcels to Malaga and Alicante which are very popular locations for Expats.
Before sending goods to Spain, please visit the Spanish customs authority website to ensure that you are not sending any prohibited or restricted items to Spain.
Likewise, before using our 'Quote and Book' tool above to send a parcel to Spain, it would be prudent for you to collate all of the information that you will be required to provide. This information includes the sender and recipients full address and phone number, a description and value of the goods you wish to ship to Spain and the HS codes for these items. We keep a small selection of popular HS codes on our booking system, but we strongly advise that you obtain these codes independently as we cannot be responsible for errors or omissions.
Finally, when you send a parcel to Spain, please make sure that you use a cardboard box for the outer packaging. This is due to COVID-19 handling restrictions, which require that all parcels be properly packaged to prevent the spread of the virus.
If you are in no rush for your goods to be shipped to Spain, you could choose one of our road services from DHL, UPS and Parcel Force which generally take 3 to 4 days to arrive. The benefit of these road delivery services to Spain is that liquids and water based paints can be sent (using the appropriate service from our specialist shipping pages below), and they are much cheaper than the air express delivery to Spain services.
The air express services are a great option for important deliveries to Spain, these express services are literally a next day delivery to Spain service (remote areas may take a little longer).
Our services from UPS and Parcel Force can either be collected from you or you can drop off your package to Spain at the Post Office for Parcel Force deliveries or a local parcel shop for UPS parcels to Spain.
At this moment, we do not have any drop off services for DHL, however, they will collect from any address in the United Kingdom.
You may also insure your parcel to Spain for up to £20,000.00 (exclusions apply), which is a speciality in its own right offered by Overland Express, for just 2.00%.
How to Prepare a Parcel to be Shipped to Spain
From departure to arrival in Spain, your parcel may travel several thousand miles on various modes of transport. It's not unusual for a parcel to Spain to travel via other countries before arriving at its final destination. This could include multiple vans, trucks and aircraft. Needless to say, at each of these stages it will be both manually and automatically handled - Each of these is an opportunity for damage to occur.
Spending a few minutes ensuring that your delivery to Spain is adequately packaged will for the best part, mitigate damage occurring.
It is prudent to print a second copy of the parcel label and insert this inside the outer box, this will allow the courier company to identify the sender and/or recipient should the original label be lost or defaced.
We recommend firstly wrapping your item in bubble wrap / surrounding with packing peanuts etc. and then place the item into a strong cardboard box, ensuring that the item cannot move freely whilst in transit. Finally, this box should be placed in a larger box and itself bubble wrapped or tightly packed with packing peanuts before being taped closed.
